An Eldoret woman who was beaten and seriously injured by her husband for allegedly failing to prepare supper on time has finally opened up on the events that led to the unpleasant experience.
The woman, Valerie Masibo narrated the ordeal when she took to the stand during the hearing of the case in which the husband, Naftali Lusuli is charged with assault.
Before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, Valerie said it all started when the husband returned home from work and found her preparing supper.
The husband works at a slaughterhouse in Eldoret town.
It was reported that the husband had left Valerie with Sh500 to prepare supper and was unhappy when she returned home to find the food was not ready.
"I wanted to start preparing supper when an argument ensued and he started slapping me. I am a lady so it is quite difficult for me to defend myself while a man beats me," the wife told the court.
"When he saw the slaps were not enough he picked the cooking stick and hit me repeatedly," she added.
Photos of Valerie's badly injured face went viral on social media a fortnight ago following the incident that elicited mixed reactions amongst local leaders and Kenyans at large.
