According to reports, the man quarreled with his wife over being a follower of the church leading to a domestic quarrel.

The argument led to a fight which saw the woman run away in the wee hours of Thursday night.

In the morning, neighbours found the man killed.

“His throat had been slit open with a kitchen knife. The knife was beside him,” a witness said.

Angry neighbours attacked the wife over the murder before she was rescued by police and rushed to Kapsabet county referral hospital.

“Men in this area have been raising concerns over the manner in which women have neglected their matrimonial roles after becoming members of the church. Many women have abandoned their families after becoming Owuor’s followers,” Julius Sigei said.

Nandi county police commander Thomas Ngeiywa confirmed the incident.

“She is hospitalised under police guard and as soon as she’s out of danger, we will prefer murder charges against her,” the police boss said.

Police said the suspect called her mother-in-law Friday at 5:00 am and told her that the son was very sick.

“She said the son was very sick,  lying in bed at home and needed to be taken to hospital urgently,” a relative said.
