Speaking on Tuesday, the first term MP said that to the contrary, the team which consists women from across the political divide is up against politicking, and stands for national peace.

She said that their intention is to calm the heating political temperatures, while at the same time supporting each other as women in the course of delivering service to the citizens.

"Embrace Kenya is a team of women who are saying they are not interested in the political narrative. We want to come together as women of this nation and support each other even when doing our developments/ talk to our people on matters peace," she said on Citizen TV's Day Break show.

The lawmaker further hailed the March 9, 2018 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, which formed the basis of Embrace formation.

She noted that thanks to the handshake, the nation is now enjoying peace, which has as well reflected in the initially divided Parliament which was characterized by drama.

Chege observed that Kenyans are now free to engage with each other without the initial suspicion, including visiting places that were initially deemed politically hostile.

"Kenyans are happy we have peace. From where I sit, we are not having any unnecessary drama in parliament. We are able to move and are working closely together with the other team (ODM) but people have ambition and even there is suspicion within Jubilee," she added.

However, the group has been dismissed as an extension of the Uhuru-Raila Kieleweke camp as they seek to isolate  Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 presidential elections.

Consequently, his allies under the Tanga Tanga faction of the ruling Jubilee Party have come up with the Inua Mama rival group to counter Embrace.
