Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has lashed at the government over the borrowing spree noting that the Kenyan debt ration is at 55% compared to the GDP.
In a tweet on Saturday, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr said Kenya has surpassed the borrowing spree by 5%, adding that the Chinese debts are a threat to the Kenyan sovereignty.
He noted that the people will one day challenge those decisions.
"Kenya is at 55% debt ratio to GDP . The PFM gives a threshold of 50%. These Chinese debts are a threat to our sovereignty. The people of Kenya will one day challenge these decisions," he tweeted.
The Senator who has been passionate about the welfare of the people, seems aggrieved by the level of debt Kenyans have been subjected to by the Jubilee government.
Kenya borrowed billions from China to fund the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Mombasa to Nairobi.
On Saturday, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga revealed that he will accompany President Kenyatta to China to negotiate another loan deal for extensiob of the SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu.
