Although details of the meeting still remain scanty, there are speculations that the two leaders could work together in 2022.

Deputy President William Ruto, who is considered one of the front-runners in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, will not have an easy day when it comes to facing a Raila-Moi ticket.

The two leaders command massive support from their regions.

Moi has been a thorn in the flesh of DP Ruto. The second-in-command risks losing millions of votes from the Rift Valley region if Gideon, son of the former President Daniel Arap Moi, agrees to work with Raila.

The division in the Kalenjin voting bloc will leave Ruto a wounded lion as he seeks to rise to power.

Regardless of the order in which the two will combine in reference to the President and Deputy President, Ruto will have to pitch tent across the region to convince voters to rally behind him.

Both Moi and Raila are wealthy politicians. The two could use their financial muscles to woo Kenyans from different parts of the country when that time comes.

The ability to fund and mount a mother of all campaigns in the history of this nation puts them at an upper hand compared to Ruto.

The decision of President Uhuru Kenyatta will also determine the outcome of the elections.

If Uhuru backs the referendum and agrees to be the Prime Minister after retirement, Moi and Raila could go for the President and Deputy in either order.

Ruto’s fingers are crossed as he awaits President Uhuru to declare his stand in 2022.

The Kalenjin political kingpin has been opposing the referendum calls especially the proposal to create the post of the Prime Minister.

He believes that a change in the constitution will not change the state of affairs of this nation.

Ruto will have no choice but to try to reach out to Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos County boss Dr. Alfred Mutua in the race for the top post.

The two leaders could assist Ruto garner millions of votes from Ukambani in order to compete favourably against Raila and Moi.
