Firebrand Taveta MP and former Special Programmes minister Naomi Shaban may have after all dumped Deputy President William Ruto.
In photos posted by Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, Shaban was one of women leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga visiting Kilifi on Friday.
Dr Shaban was pictured along with former nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony, Sabina Chege of Murang'a and Mrs Wanga, a close ally of Odinga.
The Embrace team is scheduled to hold a rally at Karisa Maitha grounds in Malindi, which could turn political due to defiance of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
"With colleagues from team Embrace Kenya at Wilson before departing for Kilifi County. Tukutane Karisa Maitha Grounds," said Wanga.
In April this year, Dr Shaban endorsed Deputy President William Ruto, arguing that he's fit to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta due to his ability.
“The DP is capable of succeeding President Kenyatta in 2022. He has traversed the whole country to unite all Kenyans. God will reward him for striving to transform the lives of Kenyans,” said Dr Shaban.
Her decision to join Embrace team comes few days after Kilifi Woman Representative Getrude Mbeyu also quit Dr Ruto's camp, accusing Jumwa of intimidation.
Shaban's exit now leaves Aisha Jumwa as the only senior most current politician from the coast supporting Dr William Ruto's presidential quest.
