Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga on Thursday held a meeting with a section of Mt Kenya leaders, ahead of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rallies scheduled in various part of the country.

The ODM leader is expected to tour Embu and Meru next month, before making brief stopovers in Central Kenya.

Among those he met included Senators; Irungu Kangata (Murang'a), Mwangi Githiomi (Nyandarua), Isaac Mwaura (nominated), Ephraim Maina (Nyeri) and James Orengo (Siaya) at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Nairobi.

Other leaders present at the event included area business leaders, and Governors; Kiraitu Murungi (Meru) and Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua).

"Held meetings with political and community leaders from the Mt. Kenya region. We reviewed the BBI and its implications for matters critical to them including Agriculture, Representation, Youth Empowerment, Sharing of Revenue, national unity and economic well-being of the nation," he tweeted.

With the BBI team set for coast this weekend, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho also said the gatherings are for all Kenyans.

"This coming Saturday I welcome all Kenyans and leaders irrespective of their affiliations to join us at Tononoka Grounds, Mombasa as we further forge our focus on the productive agenda of the BBI that aims to help our nation achieve a shared prosperity," Joho said.

Besides the team, Odinga has been traversing with another faction led by Governor Anne Waiguru and nominated MP Maina Kamanda across the country.
