The two protagonists are not leaving anything to chances as they strive to assert their authority on electorates, with constitutional reviews set to escalate differences further.

Dr Ruto has literally taken to his Twitter account to respond to criticism from his opponents, often accusing Raila of violence.

On Wednesday Ruto said: "Tinga/his party's trail of political conmaship/deceit from KANU through Cord to NASA now heading to Jubilee and litany of violence from 82 coup to Kibra cannot be hidden behind BBI."

The DP also asked Mr Odinga to renounce violence publicly and concede defeat in subsequent competitions.

But moments later, Raila's ODM fired back on Tuesday indirectly at Dr Ruto, accusing him of still being bitter about Kibra by-election outcome.

The ODM party insisted that Ruto's Tanga Tanga brigade was keen to rig the polls but were unfortunately overwhelmed by a vigilant opposition team on the ground.

"They had planned to RIG the Kibra by-election just like they have been rigging. We were smarter. We beat them in their own GAME," said ODM.

"They are bitter. So bitter than even the garden pepper. Kenyans are no longer going to allow their WILL to be SUBVERTED by power hungry person(s)."

McDonald Mariga of Jubilee who was enjoying Ruto's support lost by a wide margin to ODM's Imran Okoth on Thursday last week.

Ruto and Raila could be at loggerheads over Building Bridges Initiative report, with the DP already expressing reservations to the Constitutional changes.
