The story was covered by Hivisasa writer Elvanis Rono who resides in Eldoret. The story was covered after the writer interviewed Huruma MCA Peter Chomba.

The MCA had reached out to Hivisasa to appeal to the county commissioner to take action and fight insecurity in the area. According to Chomba, there is a gang of 20 people who breaks into people’s houses, steal electronics.

The gang was also accused of raping women. Chomba stated the insecurity problem in the Huruma ward could only be tackled if we had increased police presence.

Following the appeal by the MCA through the Hivisasa story, Uasin Gishu county commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa called for a press conference where he warned criminals operating in the informal settlements.

The county commissioner also assured that we would have increased police patrols in the affected story.

Following the order by the county commissioner, Huruma MCA reached out to Hivisasa where he thanked the writer for helping in highlighting the case. He noted that the area leadership had set aside a parcel of land for construction of a police station.

The writer made a visit to the area and interviewed the MCA who assured that the security in the area had improved.
