That means the older-generation stereotypes of men being breadwinners and women homemakers have reduced over time because both genders now do white collar jobs.

However, government jobs come with various challenges,  because rarely will couples be posted in the same working area.

Here are three things government employed couples should discuss early enough before deciding to tie the knot:

1. Intimacy

Intimacy is an important factor in long term relationships.

Couples in long distance relationships need to plan on how they will satisfy each other.

Lack of closeness also leads to lack of emotional support; you need to see how you can work this out.

Communication also has to be spot on, as you will rarely be physically together to talk.

 2. Children

Most couples in long-term relationships always plan to have children sooner or later.

It's an easier option when the children are still young, they can most likely stay with the mother because of breastfeeding, and it may look okay for the father to be around occasionally.

However, time will come when the children finally grow up and need both parents present.

Couples need to plan on how they would handle such situations early enough to avoid the feeling of one parent missing in action later.

3. Where to have a home

Government jobs involve a lot of transfers from one place to another around various parts of the country.

You may then not have a "permanent " home based on where you work.

You need to discuss with your spouse early enough the best place you can have a permanent home to settle down together.
