Mulyungi said governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) want to snatch the title from Kalonzo.

He said Kambas recognize Kalonzo as their leader and will not allow petty individuals to tarnish his name.

Mulyungi said the trio cannot match Kalonzo’s political experience and wisdom.

“These people are being driven by personal vendetta, selfish and malicious interests. We will not allow them to fight Kalonzo,” Mulyungi said.

He addressed the residents in his constituency on Sunday.

Mulyungi said the former Vice President will remain the Kamba leader for the next decade.

He asked the Kamba nation to stand with Kalonzo and ignore the petty politicians fighting him.

The MP asked Kalonzo's rivals to concentrate on serving their electorates instead of using energy and resources to tarnish the former VP.

Kalonzo is facing a rebellion in Ukambani even as the 2022 presidential election quickly approaches.

Some of the former Vice President’s allies have lately shown signs of abandoning him.

Two weeks ago, Ukambani governors formed the People’s Empowerment Movement  (PEM) to champion the region's development.

Some political analysts have however equated the movement to a political tool aimed at fizzling Kalonzo’s political dominance in Ukambani politics.
