Police have released more shocking confessions from a hit man who was allegedly hired to terminate former Garissa County Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar.
According to the police investigations, the hired assassin (David Mwai who has since died) was instructed to poison Mukhtar.
Police say that Mwai confessed that he was asked to kidnap and poison Mukhtar using a deadly chemical.
Detectives probing the matter say that the plan was to inject Mukhtar with hydrogen peroxide.
The deadly chemical causes a heart attack or stroke once induced to a humanbeing.
The planners of Mukhatar’s murder, however, changed plan after the assassin took too long to kidnap and poison him.
The planners are said to have then asked the assassin to shoot and kill Mukhtar alongside his lawyer Charles Kanjama.
Police say that the assassin and the murder planners met at various city hotels to plan on how to kill the former Finance Executive.
Mwai who has since died is said to have made the shocking confessions before a judge in Nairobi.
He died at a Parklands police station on Thursday last week.
Another key suspect, Mohamud Hussein Aden said to have been at the center of planning for Mukhtar’s death is in police custody.
The suspect was produced in court on Tuesday and has since accused the police of torturing him.
The detectives sought 15 days to have him investigated over the attempted murder.
Garissa Governor Ali Korane is among suspects who have been questioned in relation to the attempted murder.
