Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has rubbished governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and their Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu for plotting to topple Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the Ukambani political kingpin.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV, Mulu said the leaders are being too ambitious for no good reason.

Mulu said though the trio has the constitutional right to raise their concerns about the region's leadership, Kalonzo remains the kingpin.

“All that the three governors have said is their constitutional right and so what they are saying there is nothing wrong. They are entitled to their opinion. In terms of Ukambani leadership, these three governors at one point or another must have relied on Hon Kalonzo Musyoka,” Mulu said.

This comes barely a week since former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama trashed the governors' actions.

Muthama said the three were misled.

He said the three have no numbers to take them anywhere even as they claim they can rise to power in 2022.

“They claim they want to be president. Who cursed these people? Who told Kivutha Kibwana, Alfred Mutua and Ngilu that becoming president is about popularity in Makueni, Kitui or Machakos,” he said.
