Betting company SportPesa has announced that it will resume its operations after weeks of no work following the withdrawal of its license by the State.
The firm released a statement shared on its Twitter handle explaining the promising progress made through abiding by the new government regulations governing the betting industry.
"SportPesa has been engaging stakeholders on the current licensing issue. Our sessions with regulators and government are targeted towards creating a better understanding of the gaming industry with a view of creating a shared perspective on related regulation, including tax administration," read part of the statement posted on Twitter.
"There has been notable progress in these sessions and we are pleased that Kenya Revenue Authority have now cleared us to have our license renewed. SportPesa us confident that these processes will be complete soon allowing the company to resume full operations," the statement adds.
The company thanked all stakeholders including clients and employees for their patience as they ironed out their issues with KRA and Betting Control And Licencing Board (BCLB). It also reaffirmed its commitment to operating within the confines of the law.
This comes as good news to gamblers in the country who did not hesitate to laud the new development.
