The Nairobi speaker Beatrice Elachi has scored a major victory after the governing Jubilee party ousted Abdi Guyo as the majority leader at City Hall.
Raphael Tuju, who is the party's secretary-general, wrote to the speaker of the county assembly notifying her of Guyo's ouster.
Elachi has long claimed that Guyo had sponsored opposition against her and had been behind her ouster before she was reinstated by a court.
Charles Thuo will take over the reins from the former majority leader.
Nominated MCA June Ndegwa takes over as Majority Chief Whip from Chege Waithera.
“Ordinarily, we do not wish to interfere with the affairs of our MCAs unless it is absolutely necessary… In order to bring clarity on the issue of the leadership in the House, we have decided to respect the list.., said Tuju.
He condemned the chaos witnessed following the disagreement on the House leadership, urging the MCAs to desist from taking matters into their own hands.“It is unfortunate that some of the MCAs precipitated a chaotic situation in the Assembly before we could resolve it,” the Jubilee SG said.
The supremacy wars between Guyo and Elachi had seen the assembly erupt in violence in a number of questions.
Elachi had pleaded with the party leadership to intervene to prevent the situation from getting out of hand.
