Speaking to the assembly on Wednesday, Elachi said she will take action after she receives guidance from the Attorney-General and relevant agencies over the matter.

She asked the MCAs and Nairobi residents to remain patient until the AG and his team respond to the letter.

“This situation is unique hence it is important that we wait for the way forward, but the assembly will proceed for recess as we wait for a special sitting pursuant to provisions of Standing Order No. 30 should the need arise,” she said.

Sonko was arrested on Friday last week aboard SGR train in Voi and flown to Nairobi.

While appearing before the court on Monday and Wednesday, Sonko denied the charges levelled against him.

He also dismissed claims that he had assaulted the police during his arrest. He was released on Sh15 million bail.
