Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's friend and tailor from Nakuru Dhanji Liladhar Parmar is dead,
Parmar died on Monday morning after he reportedly suffered a heart attack.
“He woke up at around 7 am and collapsed while having a shower. Doctors told us that he suffered a heart attack,” a family source said.
The tailor shot to fame after he made the late President Jomo Kenyatta a leather coat which he fell in love with and became a trademark.
This saw him receive other top government officials with requests to make them a similar coat.
In Nakuru, he was also known for his philanthropic work.
“Mzee Parmar displayed utmost patriotism and diligence. He will particularly be remembered for his compassion to the poor through the Lion’s Club and attendance of all national holiday celebrations even in later years when his health was failing,” Governor Lee Kinyanjui said in his condolence message.
