4.55pm: Justice Jessie Lessit rules that she will deliver her verdict on 24, October at 9:00 in the morning. The ruling means that Governor Obado, Oyamo and Obiero will spend 12 more days in prison.
4.40pm: Abisai (accused counsel) claims that the prosecution has not given any concrete reason to support the denial of bail and they have only relied on the affidavit from the witnesses. Says that the evidence used are not reasons to deny Governor Obado bail.
4.34pm: Accused counsel argues that there is no single case where the witnesses have been interfered with as there is no evidence to proof Sharon's family has been threatened.
4.15pm: Counsel of the prosecutor argues that then Michael Oyamo is an employee to Governor Okoth and therefore they may collectively interfere with the collected shred of the evidence if granted bail.
4.09pm: Counsel of the prosecutor (Sharon's family) argues that bail is not an absolute right and therefore the accused claims that they have dependents should not be a reason to be granted bail.
3.46pm: Counsel for the third accused (Obiero) pleads for bail, assures the court that his client will not interfere with the case in any way. The counsels further notes that his client will abide by all terms set by the court, and will avail himself when needed.
3.27pm: Michael Oyamo's counsel says the state has the duty to protect Michael Oyamo and therefore the security of the accused should not be a reason to deny him bail.
3.10pm: Oyamo's counsel argues that once a plea is taken, it is the duty of the court to grant the accused the right to bail unless the state presents its reason. In this, the court has not followed this law which denies Oyamo his constitutional right. He claims his client (Oyamo) is innocent and that should be the guide in the bail application.
3.00pm: Obado’s counsel submits that his client has been cooperating with the prosecution team, and should, therefore, be granted bail.
2.50pm: Obado's lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, argues that the accused is innocent of the murder charges and is not a threat to the witnesses and evidence collected.
2.43pm: The bail hearing kicks off after Justice Jessie Lessit issues guideline on time allocated for each team.
