All the 840 electoral commission officials in Lamu County have been trained ahead of Thursday's repeat of presidential poll.

IEBC coordinator Mohamed Adan said the staff including presiding officers and their deputies as well as clerks turned up for trainig at Mokowe and Mpeketoni.

"We are now prepared for the election. Our staff have received the required training to help voters cast their votes for their preferred candidate", said Adan.

He noted that the officials will follow the electoral body laws to ensure the process is free, fair and credible.

"The officials will be alert to ensure no irregularity is committed  and anyone found engaging in election malpractices will be punished by law", said the official.

He asked police officers in the county to provide security for the officials before, during and after the elections.
