The businessman controlled an empire of businesses in Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru and his Kiambu home.

1. Mombasa

Karume owned the Indian Ocean Beach Resort in Mombasa.The 29 acre property registered under Jacaranda Hotel (Msa) Limited is located along the Diani beach in South Coast. The resort has a beach frontage of circa 300 metres.

2. Nairobi

Karume is associated with a 3.5 acre Jacaranda Hotel Limited in Westlands, Amani House, located on Sports Road, Westlands, an 11 floored Cianda House on Koinange Street in the CBD, Unity House on Mfangano Street.

3. Nakuru

He owned Lake Elementaita Lodge in Gilgil which sits on approximately 300 acres parcel of land owned by him. Prior to his death, Karume also owned 50 acres of land under the Jacaranda Hotel in the Masai Mara.

He also had shares estimated to worth millions of shillings in companies such as Bamburi Cement, Highlands Hotel, Agricultural and Industrial Holdings Limited, Bata Shoe Company, Fidelity Export and Import, Heri Limited, Inland Beach Enterprises, Kentmere (1986) Limited among others.

Born in 1929, in Elementaita, Nakuru, Karume who served as Minister for Special Programs in the Office of the President and Kiambaa MP died on February 24, 2012.
