Kalembe was among those who backed President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto team ahead of the 2017 presidential polls and even merged his Tip-Tip Party into the larger Jubilee.

However, he now says that no further contact should be expected between him and the DP, whom he says is an anti-progress fellow whose job is to disrupt beneficial initiatives.

Speaking on Monday, the former MP also cited the DP's implication in scandals and his open opposition to Uhuru's 2018 truce with former Premier Raila Odinga, which, according to him, brought the national cohesion being enjoyed now.

"Mbona kila kitu inasemwa ni yeye? Watu wanasema hapendi maendeleo. (Why is it that everything being said lands on him? It is being said that he is anti-development)," Kalembe said.

The former Assistant Minister made the remarks on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Tuesday morning.

On the other hand, he said that he will work closely with Uhuru, Raila and Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Wakati huu tunafanya kazi na Uhuru, Raila na Kalonzo kwa sababu sasa kuna handshake na imeleta uwiano na yule mtu anaharibu hapana," noted Kalembe.

This translates to; "This time around we are working with Uhuru, Raila and Kalonzo because there is a handshake which has brought cohesion. We will not work with any person disrupting it."

Ruto and his camp have openly questioned the handshake, with the DP's lieutenants saying that though Uhuru is sincere, Raila is most likely using it to scuttle things in the Jubilee Party.
