Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has dismissed Jamhuri Day celebrations that were led by Uhuru Kenyatta at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.
The 56th Jamhuri Day was graced by various high profile personnel attended the event. Prime Minister of Barbados, the Rt. Hon. Mia Mottley, Deputy President William Ruto, and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders Raila Odinga are among some of the high profile figures who attended.
Taking to Twitter, the outspoken senator has questioned why the country celebrated the day meant to mark the day Kenya become a republic and yet many Kenyans are not yet out of the woods.
He highlighted the various challenges facing the country including unemployment, over taxation, tribalism among others, branding Kenyans as a pissed lot.
''So why exactly did we celebrate yesterday? Youth are unemployed! Kenyans are overtaxed! Tribalism is at its peak! Old elite guards are being recycled while the youth are rotting in the streets! Kenyans are pissed off! BUT not pissed off enough for a change! please #KOT'' said Ole Kina.
The senator's comments come a few days after the senator called on an audit on foreign firms operating within the country claiming that the companies are importing even sweepers yet many unemployed qualified Kenyans could work in any company doing business in the country.
The senator has lately been a critic of the government decisions including his rejection of the BBI report which was launched by President Uhuru and his counterpart Raila Odinga.
