Locals of Nyamemiso in Kiogoro area, Kisii County are living in fear after unknown assailants hacked to death a 70-year-old man in a suspected love triangle.
It is alleged that the deceased, Stephen Makori, inherited Nyabonyi after her husband died 5 years ago. Unknown assailants attacked him on his way to the widow's homestead on Tuesday at 9 pm," said a local Raphael Kebati.
Mr. Kebati said the deceased had early complained to him that he has been receiving threats from unknown people who wanted him to stop going to Nyabonyi's home.
Area assistant chief, Charles Mayaka said Kiriago could not survive because he lost a lot of blood following the attack.
"The killers used machetes to cut him deep on the head. He died as he was being rushed to the hospital," he said.
The chief has since made an assurance that the matter will be probed to establish the motive behind the killing.
"Culprits must be apprehended to face the law," he noted.
Mayaka called on locals to stop killing one another but, instead involve local administrators when faced with challenges.
The deceased body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue.
