Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has once again received another political friction from Coastal MPs.
Joho who is in office for the second and last term is eyeing for the presidency.
However, his journey to State House might not be that easier especially when MPs from his own backyard are opposing his ambitions.
A section of MPs from the Coast who are joining Deputy President William Ruto's convoy in his quest for the presidency also have opposed Joho's bid, saying he is unfit.
Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo said he will be leading more than 15 Coast MPs in campaigning for DP Ruto.
Speaking on Sunday at Majaoni Msikitini in Kisauni during DP Ruto’s tour at the Coast, Mbogo said Joho was not fit for the highest office because he does not have the interest of the people at heart.
"Even if it means sacrificing my political career, so be it," said Mbogo in reference to campaigning for DP Ruto to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.
Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori who was also present at the rally, publicly denounced Joho, asking him to revisit his presidential ambitions.
"We are not in any way interested in leaders who got nothing to offer to their people other than being preoccupied with pride," said Dori.
