Led by Kisumu County Woman Representative Rosa Buyu, the leaders said students should focus on learning while in School.

“We are not going to tolerate any rubbish. Your parents cannot be struggling to have you in school and you go on strike because you are not allowed to dance,” Buyu was quoted by the Nation.

“You are in school for three months. When you go home the next month you can take your time and dance, whenever you come back to school you can study,” she added.

Buyu said that students have to repay for their parents sacrifice to have them in school by studying hard.

The Woman Representative warned students against destroying school property during riots, because it is their parents who will repay for the damages.

“It is your parents who will be called upon to bring out the money for repairs. Do you think your parents have a lot of money?” she posed.

She was speaking during sanitary distribution exercise to various girls’ schools in Kisumu County.

Her sentiments came after Kisumu Girls, Ng’iya Girls, Maranda Boys, and Maliera Boys in Siaya County were this week closed indefinitely due to students’ unrest.
