Kisumu County is set to benefit from the 10th Development Forum Partnership held in Nairobi's Hilton Hotel on Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy President William Ruto and attended by other stakeholders including, Cabinet Secretaries, Governors and private sector representatives.

The government through Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa pledged its commitment towards ensuring that Kisumu hosts the next phase of AfriCities summit scheduled for 2021.

According to Wamalwa, the team selected a team to push the agenda as the government also seeks to ensure the creation of Cities Development fund.

"We further deliberated on Kenya's bid to host #Africities Summit 2021 @KisumuCountyKE and creation of Cities Development Fund ,jointly established a team to work in consultation with others to fast track the need and ensure final submission of our commitment," said Wamalwa in a tweet.

The meeting seeks to enhance best intergovernmental relations between county and the central governments, in line with the realization of the central government's Big 4 agenda.

Among Governors present was Kisumu county boss Anyang' Nyong'o and his Migori counterpart Okoth Obado who, however, was arrested before the completion of the function.
