Two students were on Thursday killed on the spot by lightning as others sustained serious injuries in Ndhiwa sub-county.
According to reports one of the deceased identified as Swinton Odhiambo had just finished his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education at Kawuor Primary School before meeting his death.
His counterpart Calvin Ochieng who also succumbed to the tragedy was a form two student at Obera secondary school in Ndhiwa constituency.
The kids were struck by lighting as they were playing football at a local field in the evening.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, the area administrative officer John Otonge confirmed the incident adding that the two were pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
"The KCPE candidate was said to be full of joy after sitting for the exams and was sure of passing the national tests," Mr. Otonge said said as quoted by Nation.
Homabay county police commander Marius Tum noted that the other students who sustained injuries were taken to a local hospital in Rongo sub-county.
