In an interview on Radio Jambo on Wednesday morning, Malala took issue with the Ford Kenya Deputy party leader's latest political moves and his newfound political romance with Deputy President William Ruto.

He accused the former Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful of joining Ruto's camp for financial gains, attributing the same to his sudden generosity during fundraisers.

The youthful legislator wondered how Khalwale could suddenly contribute hundreds of thousands of shillings during fundraisers despite being on the political cold, yet he could not do the same during his senatorial days.

‘’Khalwale alipokuwa Seneta hangetoa zaidi ya elfu ishirini kwa matanga, iweje sasa anatoa laki saba na hana kazi? (How come he can now afford 700, 000 shillings yet he could not give more than Sh 20, 000 before?),’’ he wondered.

‘’Pesa hizi huenda zinatoka kwa Naibu wa Rais ili kujaribu kuwashawishi wananchi wamuunge mkono atakapokuwa anawania urais 2022 (this is most likely a plan by Ruto to facilitate his 2022 presidency),’’ he alleged.

Khalwale who endorsed opposition leader Raila Odinga for the presidency in the previous polls has crossed over, basing on his seeming closeness to the Deputy President.

He is, however, yet to officially announce his support for Ruto's ideologies.
