A Nyamira based local politician has welcomed the tough warning by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over the Migingo Island.
Victor Swanya, a Wiper politician said Matiang'i should protect the tiny Island.
"Ugandan police officers must stop harassing our people at the Island and I am sure Matiang'i will help in ending the harassment," he said.
Swanya accused Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for causing trouble about the Migingo Island.
"Uganda police officers crossing over to arrest fishermen must be dealt with accordingly so that Museveni can know we have laws as a country governing us," he reiterated.
The vocal politician who lost the Kitutu Masaba MP seat insisted that the government must back Matiang'i's attitude to ensure the dispute over Migingo Island comes to an end.
He was speaking in Nyamira town on Friday.
