A suspected robber was killed while another one is admitted at Nakuru Level Five hospital following a foiled robbery at Mutundu village in Dundori Nakuru County on Friday.
The 7 am incident also left other four suspects with arrow wounds.
The robbers who are said to be between 15 and 20 attacked the home of Benedetta Wanjiku moments after they had woken up just before they took breakfast.
They began by breaking all window panes and disconnecting electricity mains before gaining entry into the house.
According to Wanjiku, the attackers were out to kill her and her husband.
The husband suffered a cut on the head.
Even after raising alarm and calling the OCS in charge of Dundori police station located about three kilometers away, the attackers had the comfort of harassing the family before Wanjiku’s husband and his farm hand Vincent Yegon gathered courage and fought them using crude weapons.
They managed to kill one of them, inflicted deep cuts on another and shot four others with arrows as their accomplices fled leaving behind weapons they were armed with.
Locals said that the act was orchestrated by people well known to the family adding that the attack might have been as a result of an existing land case.
DCI officers from Nakuru north visited the scene and questioned several people before recording statements.
Area MCA Michael Machembu said that crime has been on the rise in the area and therefore called on the police to up their game.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri while condemning the incident said that a notorious gang believed to be behind raping and robbery cases in Bahati was responsible.
“There is a notorious gang that is terrorizing residents but we have faith in the security apparatus in the area and we believe no stone will be left unturned until the culprits are brought to book,” said Ngunjiri.
He called on those with land disputes to ensure they follow legal procedures instead of taking the law into their own hands.
Nakuru north deputy county commissioner Mutua Kisilu while confirming the incident said that police were on the matter and soon they will be closing up on the culprits.
“We have launched investigations and soon the culprits will be brought to book,” said DCC Kisilu.
