There was drama Saturday morning after a man was found half-naked stealing from his neighbour's cereal store.
The incident happened at Soko Mjinga village in Nyamondo sub-location in South Mugirango constituency in Kisii.
Area assistant chief David Andama told the writer during an interview that the suspect, Sospeter Onyuri, sneaked into his neighbour's cereal store to steal before he was caught.
"It was at 4am when Onyuri's neighbour heard his dogs barking. He decided to go out and check what was happening. He realized someone was in the cereal store packing maize into a sack and raised alarm," said the chief.
The administrator said other neighbours responded quickly to the alarm raised and caught the suspect half-naked.
"The suspect was not wearing a shirt. He tried to run away in vain as locals chased after him and apprehended him. He received a thorough beating from angry locals before he was surrendered to Etago police post," he added.
Andama said will be arraigned in court on Monday. Cases of theft has escalated in the region but the administrator said security officers are vigilant.
