Governor Mike Sonko has dismissed a Bill by Kericho senator Aaron Cheruyiot that seeks to have Nairobi County dissolved.
Sonko says that the senator's Bill will not see the light of the day, stating that Nairobi just like other counties is established under the constitution.
The Nairobi governor asked the Jubilee senator to stop wasting his time with the Bill.
Sonko claimed that the senator’s Bill is part of the plot by enemies of Nairobi to interfere with his leadership.
“I will not allow the senator and a few other individuals with a hidden agenda to interfere with the county of Nairobi,” Sonko told journalists on Friday.
He said that while the Jubilee senator has a right to draft the Bills he wants, he should respect him (Sonko) and the people of Nairobi.
Senator Cheruyiot has presented the Bill to the Senate seeking to have Nairobi delisted from the list of counties.
The senator wants Nairobi to be taken by the national government, stating that it is unfair that the county is competing for resources with other counties.
Several leaders among them SenatorJohnson Sakaja have opposed the Bill.
The Bill is before the Senate Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
