Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has broken his silence following the increasing cases of insecurity in Bomachoge Chache constituency.
Speaking in Kisii town on Monday after meeting with MCAs from Bomachoge, Maangi urged residents of Magena and Bomachoge at large to be calm as police fast track the probe following the brutal murder of businessman Zabron Nyakibwaga.
"It is sad that criminals are attacking and killing innocent people. I wish to condemn the killing of Nyakibwaga and the innocent man who was shot dead by police during the demonstration on Saturday," charged Maangi urging the public to remain calm.
"The public should remain calm because police officers have promised to fast track investigations," he said.
Maangi appealed to police officers to intensify security patrols for the sole purpose of boosting security in the area.
He challenged local leaders to champion the safety of residents adding that rogue police officers must not be condoned.
"As leaders, we should also work as a team to ensure our people are protected. Police officers sleeping in their houses instead of protecting our people should be transferred for sleeping on the job," added Maangi.
He warned local youths who have ventured in crime warning that any youth found engaging in crime will be apprehended.
