Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi suspected a hidden hand behind Thursday's press conference by a section of Mt Kenya MPs in parliament.
At least 40 legislators from Mt Kenya and 'diaspora' opposed Parliamentary system of government, which is being reportedly fronted by BBI team.
But Osotsi has accused DP William Ruto of 'using all available opportunity to derail reforms'. He insisted that the rebellion against BBI was waged by Ruto.
“These are people who are acting at the behest of the deputy president. The DP is using all the loopholes to derail the reform agenda. These are people who do not want change in this country. They want raw power,” he said.
Although he's yet to have a stand on whether or not to support BBI report, Dr Ruto has often lashed at the team accusing it of using a short cut to change the constitution.
The leaders from Mt Kenya led by nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura vowed to block the intended changes should the team propose parliamentary system.
Mwaura said, "When it comes to governance, we want the principle of one man one vote respected. We will not elect leaders through Parliament or [electoral] college."
Among the MPs who signed Thursday's statement are John Kinyua (Laikipia Senator), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Kwenya Thuku (Kinangop), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga), Isaac Mwaura (Nominated Senator) and John Nyaga (Manyatta).
Others were David Kiaraho (Ol Kalau), Kanini Kega (Kieni), Patrick Mariri (Laikipia East), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri) and Charles Njagua (Starehe).
