Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has questioned the motive behind the creation of a powerful Prime Minister post with two deputies as recommended in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
He further hinted that the Prime Minister post may be aimed at cooling the political temperature in the country. But cautioned that the position should not be created if that's not what Kenyans want.
"Even if we were to have a situation where we have an executive that is slightly altered, let it come because Kenyans believe it is what is good for them. Does your gut feeling tell you that these changes are there because Kenyans really want them? Or does your gut feeling tell you that some people are pushing for certain changes because, it will solve short term weather conditions in the political arena," Mudavadi noted.
Speaking to Citizen TV on Saturday, the ANC party leader claimed that most of the issues that are in the BBI report are covered in the new constitution that was promulgated in August 2010.
Mudavadi pointed out that the only thing remaining is commitment to implement the issues that are highlighted in the 2010 constitution.
"By large, the 2010 constitution has covered a lot of the things that are still being talked about within the BBI. It is really a question of commitment to implement some of these issues," Mudavadi stated.
