Deputy President Dr William Ruto descended on Changamwe with an inspirational message for the residents as he defended his famous hustler label.
Speaking while standing through the sunroof of his vehicle, the country's second in command recounted his struggles as a chicken seller.
He told the people of Changamwe that there was nothing under the sun that was impossible, hailing his life story as evidence of that claim.
"Listen to me the people of Changamwe, as you see me today, at one point in my life I was selling chicken by the road side (Nasikizeni wangwana wa Changamwe hata mimi munaniona nasimama hapa wakati mmoja nilikuwa nauza kuku barabarani, kwa hivyo hakuna kitu ambalo haliwezi kuwezekani), " the deputy president said. DP Ruto has, in the course of his political campaigns, made much about his struggles as a young person, branding himself as a hustler, a label that has not sat well with his detractors.
He hit out at politicians who he said were in the business of talking and not working for the people of Kenya.
The deputy president has been touring the coastal region that is considered veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga's turf.
He told off those criticising for undertaking the tour, saying that as a Kenyan he has the freedom to visit any part of the country.
