Most people eat eggs daily. This is the easiest way to up your protein intake. The white part of an egg is rich in proteins, folate, calcium and sodium. Despite it having great health benefits, it still has some of its side effects. Here are four common side effects of eating the egg whites:
1. Allergies
Most people are allergic to eggs because of the egg whites. It is believed eating this part causes those rashes, sweating, vomiting and even diarrhoea. In worst cases, it can cause difficulty in breathing.
2. Excess protein
Eggs are rich in proteins which are found mostly in the egg whites. This could cause more problems for people who suffer from kidney problems.
3. Depletion of biotin
Studies show that eating egg whites could cause biotin deficiency in the body. This is due to the presence of avidin in egg whites that destroys biotin. Deficiency of biotin, also called Vitamin H/B7 causes cramps, muscles pain and hair loss among many things.
4. Salmonella
Salmonella is a bacteria found mostly in the intestines of a chicken. Raw eggs could be contaminated by this bacteria. Therefore, people are always advised against eating raw egg whites as they could be contaminated with salmonella.
