Former Secretary General of Moi University Students Organization (MUSO) Moses Tisa has finally opened up on what is killing comradeship as well as politics at the Kesses-based university.
The vibrant and outspoken politician who is also the current Secretary General of Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) blamed tribalism for the ailing comradeship and university politics at the institution.
“One thing I can tell you for a fact without any doubt or fear of contradiction is that MUSO politics has always been marked and marred in tribalism. This is a fact because even as I was running for the position of the secretary general for the first time, there was the 'Obuntu and Kaleluhya collision'. This is tribal groupings where people say let one of us be a leader so that we can have the feel-good-effect,” Tisa who is also the director of communications in Homabay governor Cyprian Awiti’s office revealed during an exclusive interview with Hivisasa.
This comes just a few weeks after the election of the 32nd MUSO which the young politician believes was a slight improvement.
He further revealed more details on what has destroyed the unity among comrades and campus politics in general.
“In Kenya and of course in our campus politics at Moi University, what I do call as comrades sobriety is doomed because students are no longer electing leaders based on the content of their character and the keenness of their minds. They elect them because they can give them some money and they come from the right community,” noted Tisa.
He was however quick to congratulate the current Moi University Vice-chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey for successfully fighting the tribalism mentality at the institution.
According to him, Prof. Kosgey’s work has exceeded the expectations of many as he is reclaiming Moi University’s glory.
