Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday evening, the firebrand MP added that he is the best-placed candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He declared his readiness and ability to beat among others, Deputy President William Ruto, adding that he will beat the DP hands down.

"About Ruto, he will be a very strong second to me. He will come in a strong second. Vote for vote, I will and I shall beat William Ruto," said Kuria.

Asked about his small financial muscles as compared to the apparently better prepared Ruto who seems stronger on matters finances, Kuria maintained that money is a non-issue in the race.

Kuria insisted that the president will be decided by Kenyans in consideration of leadership abilities and not finances.

"It's the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which will be announcing the winner and not the Central Bank," said Kuria.

He denied claims that his bid is a joke aimed at elevating his political relevance, maintaining that he is already popular.

However, Kuria and all the other candidates including the Deputy President are yet to officially declare their candidature.
