Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau has disclosed that the Wiper party will hold nominations ahead of 2022 general if another candidate is interested in the presidency.
Speaking during an interview in Mbaitu FM on Tuesday, Makau said the party settled on Kilonzo Musyoka because there's no one who has shown interest to wrestle him.
"For now the party supports Kalonzo Musyoka as the presidential candidate in 2022 but if another candidate comes up, we will absolutely hold nominations," said the MP who observed that Kalonzo is the best bet in 2022 due to his unquestionable clean record.
He also urged residents in Ukambani to register as voters ahead of the 2022 elections citing that it's important that the great support for Kalonzo to be from his backyard.
Makau further admitted that there was a misunderstanding that led to some leaders from the party to leave.
He asked for forgiveness on behalf of the party and urged those who quit the party to meet with officials and resolve matters.
"There are misunderstandings in families and even parties so if there is anyone whom the Wiper party offended in one way or the other we are very sorry," Makau said.
He also revealed that the party has already reached out to some former members and some have confirmed they will come back.
