The MP claims that the president made several promises that are yet to be honored.

According to the lawmaker, President Kenyatta promised to connect Wajir and Mandera counties to the national power grid.

He said that one year later the president has remained silent as locals suffer.

The MP claims that Wajir and Mandera counties are powered by Ken-Gen which is expensive.

He said that frequent power outages have led to losses in terms of business and lowered down the county’s economic development.

“The President must honour the promise he made to Wajir and Mandera residents and ensure they are connected to the national power grid,” he said in Wajir Town on Monday.

Wajir is among counties that overwhelmingly voted for Jubilee in the 2007 general election.

Last month, Energy CS Charles Keter said that the government is sourcing for funds to construct a power line in Garsen that will connect to Mandera.

He said that another power line will be constructed in Garissa to connect to Wajir County.
