Citizen TV journalist Yvonne Okwara on Tuesday shocked viewers after resorting to using vernacular in a bid to calm down an agitated caller during a live sports show, Viva Africa.
This is after a caller identified as Christine had won Sh10,000 after correctly answering questions about Africa Cup of Nations from Mike Okinyi, another journalist.
Christine had been helped to answer the questions by another journalist Francis Gachuri thus bagging the money.
However, Christine was demanding to be sent the money instead of picking the money personally On Wednesday as asked by Okinyi thus prompting Yvonne Okwara to chip in and convince her.
"Christine our daughter, let me speak to you in Luhya, you have to calm down. All this money belongs to you. Gachuri will give it all to you on Wednesday.
Find enough fare for you and your kids and come down to our studios tomorrow with your kids then after that go back home with God's blessings," she said.
She managed to calm down the caller who laughed out loud and later asked at what time she was supposed to pick the money.
"You should be at the studios at 1 pm so that we can have your name, phone number and after getting the money you will go and buy your children milk. This money will really help you, it's not a joke," said Okwara.
Okwara surprised the other journalists with her fluency in the Luhya language.
