Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said that the fate of the Punguza Mzigo proposal by Thirdway Alliance Leader Ekuru Aukot lies in the hands of the general public.
In a tweet on Sunday, the politician said that the county assemblies will back the proposal because it will be a platform for them to stamp their authority as far as leadership at different levels is concerned.
He also said that members of parliament will reject the proposal because it seeks to reduce their number yet they want to remain in leadership so that they can continue to influence government decisions using their numbers.
He also said that senators will approve the proposals without any hesitation. The politician, who has vowed to back Deputy President William Ruto in 2022, noted that the differences between the Senate and National Assembly will make Senators to approve the proposals with immediate effect once it is presented in the house.
“Keen reading of the Punguza Mzigo proposals reveals the following; county assemblies will easily approve it, the Senate will gleefully endorse it, National Assembly will angrily reject the proposed amendments and the final say will rest with Wananchi. Punda amechoka!” he said.
Aukot has since announced that he will take the proposals to the county assemblies with the hope that he gets approval from the same.
