Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has lauded Inspector General of Police and the Coast Regional Commander for acting swiftly in arresting Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and others involved in Ganda ward chaos.
Jumwa was arrested on Wednesday morning hours after she was linked to chaos that erupted at the home Ganda Ward ODM candidate Ruben Katana, resulting to the death of one person.
On Wednesday evening, Kingi lauded police for acting swiftly in arresting those involved in Ganda ward chaos.
"I laud the Inspector General of Police and the Coast Regional Commander for acting swiftly to ensure the perpetrators of the attack are arrested on time. We will not relent until justice is served for the loss of Mr Ngumbao Jola," read Kingi's post in part.
Kingi who also condemned the attack, asked leaders to embrace and preach unit within the county instead of propagating hate and heinous acts
"We condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our Ganda ward aspirant Hon Reuben Katana which was orchestrated by MalindI MP Aisha Jumwa with the help of Malindi Deputy OCPD Solomon Kosgei," he ssaid.
Jumwa had earlier said that she stormed into Katana's home on grounds that they were holding illegal campaigns.
"Campaigns ended on Monday at 6pm as per the law and once I received reports that the ODM candidate was holding an illegal meeting, I decided to go and protest why police were not doing their duty," said the MP, as quoted by Daily Nation.
