Digital Innovation Secretary at State House Dennis Itumbi has poked holes in the arrest of Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.
In a series of tweets, Itumbi said that the arrest has been stage-managed. He noted that the complainant, Joyce Wanja, had recorded a statement with the police but they found nothing worth arresting the lawmaker.
“On the Complainants side, this is what was recorded before the Police Medical Doctor. 1. This was a month ago. 2. Police after checking found nothing deserving an arrest. 3. Complainant claimed to have been slapped on the upper side of the arm,” he tweeted.
He also said that he will be moving to Kilimani police station to record a statement after the arrest.
“I will be in Kilimani later to record a statement in his favour. The complainant wanted money. Moses said he was NOT guilty and would not be blackmailed! Hii ingine ni Cinema,” he tweeted.
He also said that Kuria presented himself to the police after the video was circulated online but some critics decided to claim he had been arrested.
“Moses Kuria walked into Kilimani police Station after a video alleging assault was widely circulated. #HarambeeHousePrefects & some political players choreographed his locking up,” he said in another tweet.
Wanja said that Kuria assaulted her after she asked him to moderate his language at a fundraiser for orphans.
"I told him he was talking about matters which were irrelevant to the event at hand and more so, inappropriate for children and faithful," she said.
