Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has been the latest high-ranking Kenyan to endorse the proposed referendum bid.

The push is led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, who wants among others, the expansion of the executive to house more persons.

Speaking on KTN's Point Blank on Wednesday night, Wamalwa backed the constitutional changes proposed by the former Prime Minister, terming them very necessary.

He threw his weight behind the bid for a larger executive, terming it the best solution to the current exclusivity, dismissing claims that the executive will be overcrowded.

"As a former Minister of Justice, I served in a government with a President, a Vice President, a Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Minsters and we had a very inclusive Kenya. I can tell you that this country is big enough for all of us, let no one tell us that the government is not big enough," he said.

He also stressed on the need for the looming changes to address matters to do with bettering the three arms of government and ensure the trickling of more funds to the devolved units.

"We know that we have issues including the issue of the executive and as the executive, we know what needs to he changed. We need to look at the executive, the judiciary, how to strengthen devolution and the legislature," he added.

All the opposition co-principals have also declared support for the proposed changes which also have the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
