According to Kathangu, the meetings are convened with one aim in mind, to compromise the legislators with cash.

"This thing has not changed. Today we have got people in government who are receiving Members of Parliament almost every evening. And every Member of Parliament who attends to their qualms is given one hundred, two hundred thousand Kenya shillings," Njeru said.

The former MP painted a picture of an irredeemably compromised parliament.

His words come amid shock at reports that MPs took as little as ten thousand shillings to shoot down the blistering sugar report.

Kathambi spoke Monday morning on a mainstream television show.
