Uhuru’s second term has been rocked by claims that, contrary to his earlier statements that he would back his deputy William Ruto to inherit him, he has changed his mind and headed to shortage his number two.

While on a tour in Nyeri on Thursday, Uhuru told residents and leaders to stop worrying because he will lead the region in 2022 on which way to go.

Speaking in Kikuyu, Kenyatta warned elected leaders to stop politicking on the 2022 succession politics.

“Don’t think I’m a fool by keeping silent on issues of politics; I will give my voice come 2022,” Uhuru said.

The President spoke days after Rift Valley MPs led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen put pressure on him to come clean on claims that they are no longer reading from the same script with his deputy.

Things got stirred within the Jubilee administration after March 9 when Kenyatta made peace with his bitter rival in the 2017 presidential race Raila Odinga in a historic handshake.

The handshake rattled Ruto’s backers who fear that Raila will spoil Jubilee succession gameplan.
