Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has reminded Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore that Kenyans still demand to know why he declined to allow Safaricom to be scrutinized after the August 8 general poll.
The telecommunications giant was widely accused of declining to provide crucial data to the opposition NASA following claims that the firm helped Jubilee Party to rig the election in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Welcome back Bob. While you were away we shook hands, stopped resisting and profits shot up," Passaris said in a tweet in response to an earlier message by Collymore announcing his return to Safaricom.
"History will, however, judge us harshly if justice was denied because access to crucial information was deterred. Public companies should be ready for scrutiny in the interest of the public."
On Monday Collymore officially announced his return to East and Central Africa's most profitable firm after his departure nine months ago on medical grounds.
There were claims then that he had been pushed out of the firm following accusations by opposition leader Raila Odinga against Safaricom that linked it to the alleged rigging of the presidential poll on August 8.
NASA, after Uhuru was declared winner of the poll, announced a boycott for Safaricom products.
