The Kenyan government through the Immigration Department has said that it has been formally informed about the return of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna into the country.
In a statement shared on its Twitter handle Monday, the Immigration Department said that it would comply with a court order issued on December 14, 2018.
The directorate has been informed that Dr Miguna MIguna will travel to Kenya on Tuesday, 7, January 2019.
"This is to confirm that in compliance with court orders issued on December 14 2018, the directorate will facilitate Miguna's entry into the country, " the short statement read.
The statement comes hot on the heels of an order issued by Justice Weldon Korir that compelled the State to facilitate the lawyer's return into the country.
Miguna said in a series of tweets that he had boarded a plane and was on his way to Kenya.
This return comes over a year after he was forcefully deported to Canada after a 72-hour standoff with Kenyan immigration officials.
He has said that the decision by the government to deport him was in gross violation of his rights.
A star-studded cast of veteran lawyers fought his case in the courts.
